Hi everybody!

I received a Facebook message from a young cartoonist who had contacted me with questions before. He had been doing his feature for a year or so, and asked me how to get over the bore of drawing the same characters every day.

I was puzzled by his question and responded “Honestly, if you ever find it boring you might be in the wrong line of work.” I shouldn’t have been so short with him. Even those of us who love our jobs need to recharge now and then. Although it was a couple of days ago, I intend to follow up with him with a more helpful answer.

It has always been a privilege to be able to draw a comic strip for a living, but it wasn’t until I was older that I realized how important comics are to readers. PEANUTS was always special to me. It made me feel happy and secure as a kid. I could relate to so much of it.

Just last week I woke up feeling uninspired and not really looking forward to the work of trying to think of new ideas. Then I looked at my social media feed to discover many people going through difficulties in life. A cartoonist can’t do much to save the world, but we can do our best to bring a smile to the people who see our work. I remembered the feeling I always got from PEANUTS. I stopped scrolling and started doodling and jotting down thoughts, feeling very fortunate to be able to this every day.

Lots of strips to show you today, including 3 Sundays and one of my favorite Wally strips…
