This Day in Drabble History: May 20th & 21st (Plus Unusual Travel Photos)

Hi everybody!
I just returned from a trip to Italy. I’m not an enthusiastic traveler. If a place is farther than 60 miles away (and that number becomes smaller every year), I’d rather stay home. As you can imagine, this situation is frustrating to my wife who enjoys going going to far off lands. So I do my best.
Charles M. Schulz was much the same way. He told me a story once that he had to travel somewhere on business, and as he boarded the plane, his feeling of dread became worse. Immediately after taking his seat, he got up again and exited the plane. He couldn’t bear to leave his home and family, and I suspect, his drawing board. A few weeks ago I corresponded with Sparky’s widow Jeannie Schulz and we were talking about why Sparky and I both disliked travel. She said, “Well, the pull of the daily strip is strong!” She also said that Sparky (eventually, if not directly) found inspiration in their travels.
I found inspiration to. There may well be an Italy trip in the Drabble family’s future. The real problem is, can I draw Italy??
I took a few pictures while I was there. I’ll show them to you after we look at our Drabble strips from today’s date and tomorrow’s.
